Questions

Questions we are asked

The research

How often does it arrive?

Filings do not arrive on a schedule, so neither does the research. When something lands that matters, you have it that day. In practice that means several times a week, more during earnings and 13F season.

Who writes it?

Three traders of the US Investing Championship. One has won it, one has placed, one leads his division this year. Their identity stays inside the membership.

Why do you not name them?

A publicly named desk with a following gets front-run. Keeping it inside the membership is part of what protects the positions you are following.

The software

Do I have to use it?

No. It is included, not required. Some members read the research and trade by hand.

Which broker does it work with?

Futu, with US options enabled. We chose it because it is what most Hong Kong traders already use.

Do you see my brokerage login?

No. It stays on your computer. The software connects to your broker locally; we never receive it and cannot log into your account.

Can you take money out of my account?

No. We cannot withdraw, transfer, or trade anything beyond the positions you have configured the software to follow.

What does it need to run?

A Windows computer that stays awake between half past nine at night and four in the morning Hong Kong time, Futu OpenD running and logged in, and Python. Setup is two double-clicks and takes about ten minutes.

What happens if my computer sleeps?

The software stops until you wake it. Positions you already hold remain open and unmanaged during that time, which is why we ask you to check the sleep settings before you start.

What happens if your servers go down?

The software stops opening new positions and keeps a simple stop under the ones you hold. It is deliberately cruder than the real rules — a safety net, not a substitute.

Futu keeps asking for a code by text message.

That is Futu's security, not ours, and it happens every few weeks. There is a button in the software that requests the code and a box to enter it, so you do not need to touch anything technical.

Sizing and account

How much do I need?

Roughly USD 100,000. Below that there are too few contracts for a position to be trimmed in stages, and trimming is how the strategy works. You can subscribe with less; you will get a coarser version of the same approach.

How much of my account does it use?

Whatever you tell it. The default is half. You set a percentage, and separately you set how large each position is depending on how strongly the desk calls it.

Can I change the sizing later?

At any time. It applies to the next position, not to ones you already hold.

Membership

What does it cost?

HKD 6,888 per month, about USD 880. There is no performance fee and no separate charge for the software.

Why are seats capped?

The contracts the desk trades have finite liquidity. Beyond a certain number of members buying the same option in the same minute, execution deteriorates for everyone. The cap reflects that constraint.

Can I cancel?

Whenever you like. It runs to the end of the period you have paid for.

What happens to my positions if I stop paying?

The software stops opening new ones and keeps managing what you hold until those positions close. Nothing is left unattended.

How do I apply?

Email us. We speak to every applicant before accepting them — partly to be sure it suits you, partly because the seats are limited.
